Art Assets
Art Assets, a national art advisory firm, approached Web Fine Arts to upgrade their web presence from a small static site with just a few pages to a versatile, dynamic platform to showcase and grow their business.
When Art Assets first approached Web Fine Arts their website was difficult to update and was showing its age as the mostly text site was designed for older screen resolutions. However the site design was good with thoughtful typography and logo by Pentagram. After an initial consultation the decision was made to "re-align" rather than "re-design" the site and focus on adding new functionality and content management capabilities with Drupal.
Design "Re-alignment"
To augment and modernize the existing design Web Fine Arts widened the layout and translated the original html into a custom Drupal theme using the excellent Zen theme as a base. Image-based text blocks were replaced with CSS to allow copy to be editable while retaining the original typographic feel. Replacing text images with copy also improved the visibility of the content to search engines.
New Functionality = More Impact
Though the original site had a strong typographic identity, its few small images failed to convey the dramatic effect of Arts Assets' corporate art installations. High impact photo galleries were added to feature their work with corporate offices and lobbies and public art. An easily updated blog was also added to publish current press and articles related to their business.
Simple Content Administration = Fresh, timely content
Web Fine Arts developed a simple, intuitive custom administration interface for content editors that focuses on everyday tasks and makes it easy for staff to keep site content fresh. Timely blog posts and images of new projects keep the site current conveying the true impact of Art Assets' work to potential clients.
